The world premiere of the full-length theatrical version of HAGAY DREAMING was designed specifically for the TANK performance space at Tate Modern, using laser, motion capture, tribal folk songs and rituals to tell tribal legends and personal accounts from a refreshed perspective.

Plotted by Shu Lea Cheang, Dondon Hounwn led members of Elug Art Corner on a European cultural exchange tour, transmitting GAYA living principles and HAGAY knowledge sharing through myths, rituals, ballads, workshops, forest walks and open dialogue.

HAGAY DREAMING First Stage Theater Presentation blends rituals of blessing, traditional instruments and ancient chanting with choreography, music, costume, real-time motion capture, image processing and laser design to interpret the complexities of fluid genders.

HAGAY DREAMING Research Project at the 2022 Taiwan Biennale reflects on the multifaceted themes explored between 2020 and 2022 through installation, video documents, rehearsal as performance, dialogue and a forest weaving workshop.

Stadtwerkstatt in association with Ars Electronica presented a 48-hour distributed performance of HAGAY DREAMING at STWST48x8 by the Danube River, with large cave structures, laser-lit Taroko totems, weaving, chanting and seven acts of performance.

The performance at the Dowmung Tribe Ceremony Space initiated the development of HAGAY DREAMING theatrical production, bringing together writing, experimental video, laser design, voice, music production and choreography.

HAGAY DREAMING launched at Lab Kill Lab’s Phytopia Station in 2020, where Dondon Hounwn led artists to the Dowmung forest to explore tools, media, languages and bodies for presenting the Hagay legend.
