HAGAY DREAMING First Stage Theater Presentation
Dondon Hounwn’s script for HAGAY DREAMING blends rituals of blessing, traditional instruments and ancient chanting, using the rituals as "signals" to carry on with the tradition and communicate with the spirits. While conveying the loaded historical emotions of indigenous tribes, the non-binary HAGAY gender identity is added to the discourse. Based on Dondon Hounwn’s script, Shu Lea Cheang adds technological imagination to the theatrical version, enhancing the visual impact on stage. The choreography, music composition, and costume design have been updated. The stage design incorporates real-time motion capture and image processing, using digital technology to interpret the complexities of fluid genders. The laser design is enhanced using the laser beams to shape a torrential downpour in the forest and the transmission of knowledge about weaving and hunting.
